Arizona Wildcats Land 5-Star Guard Brayden Burries!

Five-star guard Brayden Burries, a highly touted senior prospect ranked second in his class, has officially committed to the Arizona Wildcats. Burries announced his decision on ESPN’s SportsCenter, choosing Arizona over a strong field of competitors, including USC, Tennessee, Oregon, and Alabama.

Burries cited several reasons for his choice, emphasizing the strong fit with the team and coaching staff. He praised Coach Tommy Lloyd, highlighting the balance between structured play and freedom for individual expression. He also expressed his excitement about the team’s energetic playing style and the passionate Arizona fanbase, noting the electrifying atmosphere at McKale Center.

This commitment marks Arizona’s second major recruiting win in recent weeks, following Koa Peat’s decision to join the Wildcats in late March. Burries, a 6-foot-4 combo guard from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in California, is a McDonald’s All-American and ranks No. 11 in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2025. His impressive performance on the Nike EYBL circuit, highlighted by averaging 20.9 points and 5.9 rebounds in April and May, and even better numbers at the Nike Peach Jam, solidified his position as one of the top scoring guards in his class.

His exceptional scoring ability, combined with developing playmaking skills and a strong understanding of shot selection, makes him a highly valuable asset for the Wildcats. His size and strength also allow him to finish effectively at the rim. His mature game should make for a smooth transition to college basketball.

With Burries and Peat, both projected starters, joining top-50 prospect Dwayne Aristode and four-star wing Bryce James (son of LeBron James) in Arizona’s 2025 class, the Wildcats have assembled a formidable recruiting class. While Coach Lloyd will lose key players like Caleb Love, the returning starters and the addition of these highly-rated recruits suggest a bright future for the Arizona Wildcats.

The addition of Burries significantly bolsters Arizona’s backcourt for next season, adding a potent scoring threat to their already promising lineup.
