A massive DEA raid on an “underground nightclub” in Colorado Springs resulted in the detention of approximately 114 undocumented immigrants. The raid, which took place Saturday night into Sunday morning, followed a months-long investigation into alleged drug trafficking and prostitution at the club. DEA Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Pullen stated that the operation involved more than just immigration issues; significant quantities of cocaine and other drugs were seized, along with multiple firearms. The presence of over a dozen active-duty service members at the club, either as patrons or armed security, further complicated the situation.
The DEA released a video showing the moments leading up to the raid, depicting officers in tactical gear surrounding the building and issuing warnings in both English and Spanish. Agent Pullen described the club as a hub for illegal activities, including drug dealing and sex work, and indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with additional operations pending in the city. President Trump shared a portion of the raid video on Truth Social, claiming some of those detained were violent criminals, though the DEA has not confirmed any murder charges.
Attorney General Pam Bondi identified some of those detained as members of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang and the MS-13 gang. Agent Pullen also mentioned the presence of Hells Angels members. Bondi praised President Trump’s efforts to combat illegal immigration and enhance national security. However, the large-scale roundup has raised concerns among immigrant advocates and civil liberties lawyers.
The Colorado Rapid Response Network issued a statement urging relatives of those detained to remind them of their rights, including the right to remain silent, refuse to sign documents, and request legal counsel. One partygoer, Jose Dominguez, recounted being briefly handcuffed before being released after his immigration status was determined. The incident highlights the complex interplay of immigration enforcement, drug trafficking, and gang activity within the community, prompting ongoing discussions about the effectiveness and ethical considerations of such large-scale operations.
