Benz Calls for Cuts to the National Endowment for Democracy

Mike Benz, founder of the Foundation for Freedom Online, recently appeared on the “Alex Marlow Show” to discuss the Trump administration’s budget. He voiced strong opposition to continued funding of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), arguing that its current activities contradict the administration’s goals.

Benz highlighted a perceived shift in the NED’s focus from countering communism during the Cold War to actively opposing right-wing populism. He cited instances where the NED has reportedly boasted about silencing voices supportive of President Trump, further fueling his call for defunding.

He expressed bafflement that the Trump administration continues to fund the NED, noting that there were earlier indications that funding would be cut. The implication is that this continued funding is a significant inconsistency within the current administration’s policy.

The “Alex Marlow Show,” hosted by Breitbart’s Editor-in-Chief, is a daily podcast available across various platforms including YouTube, Rumble, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify. Benz’s comments are sure to generate considerable discussion about the NED’s role and the allocation of taxpayer funds.
