TP-Link has just dropped a new smart lock that’s shaking up the budget market: the Tapo DL100. Priced at just $69.99, this smart deadbolt packs a surprising punch, offering a variety of ways to unlock your door without emptying your wallet. You can use the keypad, a traditional key, the Tapo mobile app, or even voice commands via popular smart assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings.
This makes it a compelling alternative to other budget options, like the Wyze Lock Bolt. While the Wyze lock boasts a fingerprint scanner, a feature absent from the Tapo DL100, the Tapo offers both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The Wyze Lock, in contrast, requires a separate video doorbell for Wi-Fi functionality.
TP-Link estimates the DL100 will last for up to seven months on four AA batteries with Wi-Fi enabled, or a slightly longer ten months using only Bluetooth. And if you ever find yourself locked out with dead batteries, a USB-C port provides a temporary power solution.
Security features are also a highlight. The DL100 incorporates pin masking, allowing you to enter your code within a longer sequence of numbers to enhance privacy. You can also create temporary codes for guests or service personnel, scheduling them for specific times of day for added control. Integration with Tapo’s smart doorbell adds another layer of convenience and security, letting you see who’s at the door before granting access.
Furthermore, the lock provides real-time notifications for locking and unlocking events, maintaining detailed logs of all activity. The IP54 weather resistance rating ensures it can handle the elements, making it a durable choice for various climates. All in all, the Tapo DL100 offers a fantastic combination of features and affordability, making it a strong contender in the smart lock arena.
