Boulder Attack: Violence Erupts at Pro-Hostage Release Event

A disturbing incident unfolded in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday, leaving multiple people injured. The attack occurred during a “Run for Their Lives” event, a weekly gathering organized to advocate for the release of hostages held in Gaza. Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn confirmed that his department responded to reports of a man wielding a weapon and individuals being set on fire on Pearl Street. A male suspect, sustaining minor injuries, was apprehended at the scene.

The “Run for Their Lives” organization facilitates walks and runs aimed at raising awareness and pressure for the release of all hostages currently held in Gaza. While Chief Redfearn couldn’t definitively confirm whether the event attendees were specifically targeted—noting the presence of non-affiliated individuals in the area—he unequivocally stated that the attack was “unacceptable.”

The Boulder Jewish Community released a statement expressing sadness and heartbreak over the incident, specifically mentioning an incendiary device being thrown at participants. They extended their support and prayers for a swift recovery to those harmed. Witness accounts to CBS Colorado corroborate these claims, suggesting Molotov cocktails were used in the attack.

The Anti-Defamation League also acknowledged the event and the reports of an attack on its X account. Despite statements from figures like FBI Director Kash Patel and Secretary of State Marco Rubio labeling the event a terrorist attack, Chief Redfearn refrained from using that designation, pending a full investigation into the motive. He emphasized the ongoing tensions and unresolved issues contributing to the volatile climate, promising a thorough investigation and appropriate response once a clear motive is established.

The investigation is ongoing, and a definitive motive remains unclear. Fox News Digital has reached out to “Run for Their Lives” for comment.
