Nashville authorities are on the hunt for Tony Lopez-Infante, a 32-year-old Venezuelan immigrant, following a serious hit-and-run incident that left 21-year-old Zach Carach with significant injuries. The incident occurred on May 18th, during Carach’s 21st birthday celebration. Lopez-Infante, who allegedly fled the scene after striking Carach with his vehicle, a Mitsubishi Mirage, is facing multiple charges including leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid, attempted evidence tampering, and driving without a license or insurance. ICE has confirmed that Lopez-Infante entered the US illegally in August 2023 and has a final order of removal.
Surveillance footage captured the moment of the collision and the subsequent escape, quickly circulating online and further fueling the urgency of the manhunt. The damaged rental car was later recovered, leading investigators to identify Lopez-Infante as the suspect. He is also wanted in Williamson County on an outstanding probation violation warrant related to a previous theft arrest. Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., has publicly voiced his outrage, highlighting the disturbing video and demanding justice for Carach. His office has been actively involved in pushing for the suspect’s apprehension.
The victim’s mother, Sheena Carach, has shared heartbreaking updates on her son’s condition, revealing he remains hospitalized and wheelchair-bound for at least two months. She has also issued a public plea for help in locating Lopez-Infante, expressing her frustration and seeking answers about how he was able to remain in the country despite his illegal status. Federal agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, are assisting local law enforcement in their efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Anyone with information regarding Lopez-Infante’s whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. A reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest. This case underscores the ongoing debate surrounding immigration enforcement and the consequences of illegal activity within the United States.
