Wacom has unveiled a redesigned Cintiq pen display tablet lineup, boasting a modern, slimmer profile and significantly upgraded displays. The new models, available in 16-inch and 24-inch sizes, sport a boxier design with near bezel-less screens, a departure from the rounded edges of previous generations. This aesthetic update aligns with the design language introduced in Wacom’s flagship Cintiq Pro series in 2022, bringing a more sophisticated and portable feel to the mid-tier Cintiq range. This makes them ideal for both hobbyists and professional creatives looking for a balance of performance and affordability.
The improvements extend beyond aesthetics. Both the 16-inch and 24-inch Cintiq models now feature a stunning 2K resolution, a significant upgrade from the previous 1080p. Color accuracy has also been enhanced, with 100% sRGB coverage, and the display response time has been reduced to a speedy 12 milliseconds, resulting in smoother, more responsive drawing and editing. The etched glass screens minimize glare and offer a slightly textured feel, mimicking the experience of drawing on paper. Brightness has also received a substantial boost, reaching 290 nits for the Cintiq 16 and a vibrant 350 nits for the 24-inch models.
Beyond the display, other key features have been enhanced. The Cintiq 16 now benefits from a convenient 16:10 aspect ratio, while the 24-inch variants maintain the standard 16:9. All three models include the Wacom Pro Pen 3, known for its customizable grip and buttons, providing a comfortable and precise drawing experience. The Cintiq 16 boasts built-in legs for a comfortable 20-degree angle, while the 24-inch models ship with a dedicated adjustable stand. Both sizes also support the VESA standard, offering mounting flexibility for various setups. A noteworthy change is the switch from a 3-in-1 cable to separate ports for HDMI, USB-C, and a Type-C power jack. The Cintiq 16 can now even operate solely on a USB-C to USB-C connection, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter.
With pricing starting at $699.95 for the 16-inch model and $1,299.95 for the 24-inch, the new Cintiq tablets represent a compelling mid-range option. They bridge the gap between Wacom’s entry-level Wacom One tablets and the high-end Cintiq Pro series, offering a balanced blend of features and affordability. The significant improvements in display resolution and other specifications position the Cintiq range to compete effectively against other brands in the market, potentially attracting users seeking a more professional-grade drawing experience without the premium price tag of high-end models.
