Jeff Koons, the artist behind the iconic (and incredibly expensive) Balloon Dog sculptures, has teamed up with Lexon Design and The Broad museum to create a more accessible—though still pricey—version of his masterpiece. Available for pre-order starting June 17th, these 11-inch tall Balloon Dog lamps and Bluetooth speakers offer a unique blend of art and technology.
Each piece is crafted from a high-quality translucent material, showcasing the internal electronics that power their functionality. The speaker boasts six ultra-precise active drivers and four passive radiators, promising 360-degree high-fidelity sound. Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and built-in microphones allow for hands-free calling. For a truly immersive audio experience, you can even pair two speakers for stereo sound – though that will set you back a cool $1500.
The lamp, meanwhile, features nearly 400 LEDs capable of producing up to 200 lumens of brightness. Warm and cool white light options are available, along with the full color spectrum. Lexon’s Easy Sync technology allows for synchronized lighting across multiple lamps, opening up the possibility of creating a dazzling, coordinated light show throughout your home (budget permitting, of course).
While the $750 price tag per unit is undoubtedly steep, it’s important to remember that you’re paying for an official collaboration with a world-renowned artist. Lexon seems to have prioritized quality hardware, offering features that surpass many similarly sized Bluetooth speakers on the market. Shipping is expected to begin in October 2025, with limited supplies available. If you’re a Koons collector, a design enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates a statement piece, this might be worth considering. But be prepared for a significant investment!
