R. Kelly’s Shocking Claim: Prison Murder Plot Leads to Plea for Release

R. Kelly, the embattled R&B singer, is reportedly fearing for his life and has filed an emergency motion seeking release from a federal prison in Butner, North Carolina. Multiple reports, including those from People, Variety, and Billboard, claim that Kelly’s legal team alleges a conspiracy involving Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) officials and an inmate to orchestrate his murder.

The motion, filed in Chicago on June 10, 2025, paints a disturbing picture. It claims that three BOP officials allegedly solicited fellow inmate Mikeal Glenn Stine, a self-proclaimed member of the Aryan Brotherhood, to kill Kelly. Stine was reportedly transferred to the same prison and even the same unit as Kelly in March to facilitate the alleged plot. The filing suggests that prison officials, motivated by a desire to prevent Kelly from exposing alleged misconduct, offered Stine freedom from prison or help in escaping conviction in exchange for carrying out the murder.

Adding further weight to Kelly’s claims, Stine himself submitted a sworn declaration corroborating the alleged plot. Stine, who is terminally ill, stated that he initially intended to proceed with the plan, even surveilling Kelly for weeks. However, he ultimately decided to alert Kelly to the danger, revealing the plot to his legal team. Kelly’s attorneys further assert that they have evidence of a second plot involving another Aryan Brotherhood member targeting both Kelly and Stine.

The gravity of the situation is undeniable, with Kelly’s legal team emphasizing the ongoing threat to his life. They argue that the accumulation of Aryan Brotherhood members at the facility significantly increases the likelihood of the plot succeeding. In response to these allegations, a Federal Bureau of Prisons representative stated that they do not comment on pending litigation. Us Weekly has reached out to Kelly’s attorney and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for further comment.

Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence following his 2021 conviction in New York for sex trafficking and racketeering, and received an additional 20-year sentence in 2023 in Chicago for child pornography charges. The unfolding events highlight the intense scrutiny surrounding Kelly and the ongoing legal battles he faces. This situation underscores the urgent need for a thorough investigation into the allegations and raises serious concerns about the safety and security of inmates within the federal prison system.
