Have you received an email with the subject line “Lopez Voice Assistant Class Action Settlement”? Don’t delete it! This email could mean you’re entitled to a portion of a $95 million settlement related to allegations of Siri’s unauthorized recording of private conversations.
The settlement stems from *Lopez v. Apple Inc*, a 2019 class-action lawsuit alleging that Apple violated user privacy by recording conversations via Siri and sharing them with third-party contractors. While Apple denies these allegations, they agreed to the settlement earlier this year. Many of us here at The Verge received these emails recently, sent from [email protected]. The email included my name, claimant ID, confirmation code, and a summary of the settlement.
Are you eligible? If you owned a Siri-enabled device (iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod, or Mac) in the US between September 17th, 2014, and December 31st, 2024, and experienced Siri activating unexpectedly during a private conversation, you might be. You have until July 2nd, 2025, to visit the settlement website and claim your share. You could receive up to $100 – or $20 per device for up to five eligible devices.
The email I received (excluding personal information) contained [insert email text here]. Don’t delay! Visit the settlement website at [https://www.lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com/](https://www.lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com/) to submit your claim before the deadline.
