Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Putin used the imagery of Russia’s double-headed eagle, symbolizing a forward-looking approach that doesn’t shun international partnership. He emphasized that Russia hasn’t turned its back on the US and remains open to collaboration.
Putin highlighted specific areas of potential cooperation, including joint natural gas production in Alaska. He pointed out that US companies possess valuable resources, while Russia offers advanced extraction and liquefaction technologies that could significantly enhance efficiency. He stated that American and Russian businesses are keen to work together, provided the US government approves such ventures.
Furthermore, Putin mentioned the Arctic as another promising area for collaboration. He revealed that discussions have taken place with China regarding potential three-way operations in Arctic fields, showcasing the potential for mutually beneficial, multi-national projects. While President Trump has previously advocated for increased economic ties with Russia, the ongoing Ukraine conflict continues to impede the full normalization of relations between the two countries.
